In the UK the role of the security officer / protection officer is starting to achieve the recognition it deserves, but there is an long way to go. Security places a vital role in business and society and the front-line officer is one of the keys to its success. Even UK government ministers are mentioning security officers in their comments, although they tend to use the now outdated term of security guard, but it's a start.
