News from IFPO Corporate Member, Fenix Monitoring from Carl Meason, MD

Fenix Monitoring has our roots in our people, inclusivity and employee engagement, "not to be a number", we were even named Fenix by one of our operators. Our origins and makeup is built from the ground up with our combined personalities and efforts, rig
ht from inception. So as times are getting tough, inevitable questions are raised, how do these pressures and worries impact those people that help build us, those people who are our business in more ways than one?
The reality is simple, if it impacts them it impacts Fenix, if it impacts Fenix it impacts them, a cycle of separation and distancing from what makes us who we are is created. So a form of a privately owned co-operative was born, values and responsibilities out in front of a business guiding our decision making, we again put our resources where our integrity is.
This year we have identified the top risk being our people and the cost of living. We are already proud leaders in the sector for basic rates, bonus payments and business profit shares. As times become more difficult our attention turns to those living basics all being hit by the issues of the past 2 years exacerbated by a very turbulent world, one which we only see getting worse before it gets better.
We have proudly covered this immediate risk with our people this quarter with a blanket business salary uplift for everyone in the operation and this has been very well received.
I heard a great story earlier in the week about a business owner increasing a team member's wage, when the team member thanked them they said, "The last thing you should be worried about when at work is how much you get paid". With this ringing in our ears and our commitment to our core values at our backs Fenix have committed to 3 monthly reviews and will continue to track the risk this poses to our team, supporting them and supporting Fenix Monitoring day one vision, "not to be a number".
